Lol. Somebody didn't have the built in spell-checker turned on.
The iPhone will have to be very innovative to be a hit. Seeing that mockup posted awhile back, I'm not particularly excited. What will make it better then any other music phone out there? If anyone can do it, Apple can.

I was watching till about 20 mins in, it got unwatchable and then clunked out. i have my own dedicated cable modem. so lame.
cmon apple, if you can't manage streaming some of your own stuff, how do you expect others to use quicktime?
Very surprising considering last time they were able to hold up very well..
I forgot what the stats were but it was pretty impressive.
The videos must be on some Servers running on Intel..

I fail to see the point. Generally I'm very excited by Apple products. They are wonderful innovators and produce top quality. But MobileMe and this leave me wondering. I don't see how this is going to give me any benefit. There's only so many hours of music in a day. An iPodTouch, iPhone, iPad, etc hold more music than I'll listen to in a year. WTP?

will the carbon fiber be alot lighter than the aluminum?
It almost always is lighter than aluminum. A lot? Doubt it but it should be lighter. In all honesty I would barely entertain this idea since CF would be a step back in design.

Enough with the iPhone rumors. Really i'm suffocating from these dead rumors. We get it, people want a Cell Phone from Apple, but there is no need to be this obsessive about it

Oh, oh, how long before Amazon, Android and the rest bring out there own 'Traffic' branded apps... it is 'generic' after all.
You realize it's been a standard feature on Android phones for at least 2 years, right?

I almost bought this and then realized I need a Core2Duo... I only have the CoreDuo. Oh well.
Slingbox it is!!!
Also, why would they enable you to watch Live TV from the iPhone but not from another computer? Seems dumb...

"This is a live preview. Yay leopard! It's the best thing ever. It's better that you! Thats the apple way!"
"It's better that you!" ?? What is that supposed to mean? Who's trying to fool whom here?

Hi,
This is a good idea, but it's FAR from new. Intellikeys was a really slick input device available for the Mac many, many years ago. Exactly the same thing, from what I see of the patent.

Heard the same thing before the first iPad was ever released. But it is wildly popular.
That analogy doesn't make sense. The iPad isn't positioned, nor marketed, as a direct replacement for anything else Apple makes and I don't think anyone has speculated that FCP at $299 isn't going to sell. The question isn't "Will this sell" the question is "To whom is this geared towards" and based on the very brief preview many people that use FCP on a daily basis to make a living have are nervous and rightfully so, IMO.

anyone still can order it.
Just use an edu account.
nope. you'd need to own/be the IT guy of an educational institution
Can you really still order it with just an edu account?
no, you can not.
How do you get an edu acct?
you go to college or grad school, or become a teacher.

Macworld reports (http://www.macworld.com/2006/11/firstlooks/rosetta/index.php) that based on their benchmarks, Apple's Rosetta PowerPC emulation technology for Intel Macs has seen up to 30% improvements in the latest version of Mac OS X (10.4.8). Rosetta is the technology that allows Intel Macs to run PowerPC applications (such as Photoshop and Microsoft Office) which have not yet been released as Universal Binaries.
Apple released the Mac OS X 10.4.8 update on September 29th, 2006 and incorporated a number of improvements (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304200).
Meanwhile, Apple is continuing work on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and provided developers with a new seed today (Build 9A303). This latest Leopard build provides ongoing performance improvements and bug fixes, but continues to have a long list of known issues.
While Leopard is officially expected (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/08/20060807161421.shtml) to be released in Spring of there has been some questionable speculation (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/10/20061030141713.shtml) that Apple may be targeting an earlier release. Apple's Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) release will certainly draw comparisons with Microsoft's upcoming Windows Vista release. According to the BBC, Vista will be available (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/6130604.stm) to retail customers on January 30th, while corporate customers will be able to get the newest version of Windows starting on November 30th, 2006.
How much closer does that 30% get us to PPC apps running on a C2D as fast as a G5?
I love how MS managed to maximize their publicity by setting two major release dates... Corporations aren't going to deploy Vista in November, they're going to start trials on it, which is what my company would call "Beta".
I hope Apple doesn't hurry up the Leopard release just because of the Vista timeline. A hurry up release is sure to drop features or sacrifice stability. Apple can set their own schedule here-- they've already shown they can deliver much more reliably than MS has managed.

Um, so my girlfriend and I have both have the iPhone 3G. We have the same tracking issue by virtue of being on iOS 4.x - but at the current highest OS level for this model, 4.2.1, we don't get a "fix?"

Why patent something if you have no intent of developing? It hinders progress.
It's called licensing. You create/think of a really neat/innovative way of doing something yet you don't have tons of money (or ambition) to actually turn it into a product, market it, sell it, support it, etc.
Lots of patents are created so that the owner can sell/license the patent to vendors/manufacturers/companies who want to use it.

I was just going to say the EXACT same thing! You said it perfectly, whenpaulsparks! That's right, I don't want to see Steve Jobs demo some new Spotlight/Sherlock. I want to see revolutionary, fricken awsome, Vista-crushing, earth shaking features, a totally revamped and polished GUI, Enterprise features, etc. Come on Apple! Don't dissapoint me!I doubt there will be a silver bullet feature that will blow away vista, but overall improvements will take OS X to the next level.
